I am one of your constituents. I support the aim of making the internet safer, especially for children. But poorly designed rules could also weaken privacy or push smaller online communities out.

Please ask ministers and Ofcom to:
• Keep private messages secure. Any technology that could affect encrypted conversations should face independent security and accuracy checks before it is used.
• Make age checks protect privacy. They should collect as little personal data as possible, delete it promptly and offer another route when a check is wrong or inaccessible.
• Give small community sites rules they can realistically follow, with plain guidance, useful templates and expectations that reflect their risks and resources.
