The regulator’s published sequence still requires government-set minimum standards and a process to accredit technologies. Only after accreditation can Ofcom use the identification-technology function where it considers a notice necessary and proportionate. The cited sources do not say that a technology notice is currently in use. source
This update corrects a common category error: a legal power, an operational framework, an accredited technology and a notice served on a provider are four distinct stages.
